Learning how to use Family Zone

Family Zone is an amazing tool that has lots to offer! There is an extensive range of options and features for you to use. My suggestion is to start simple. Get used to the basics and understand how it works!
Step 1: Create Family Members
- Create your family members (with and without the parent role)
- Complete the user guide and explore user functions.
- Pay particular attention to routines and the calendar (this is a bedtime lifesaver!)
- Don’t worry about registering schools yet, we’ll come to that soon.
Step 2: Go the Dashboard and do the Welcome Tour
- From the Set-up page, you will see a Home button (down the bottom). Click on it and go to the Dashboard.
- You will be presented with a Welcome Tour. Have a run through it; it will be helpful when you go to setup your functions.
- You can also find it by clicking the little hat icon on the top right of the portal (PC only).
Step 3: Activate a Home Network
- If you haven’t already, I recommend you order a Family Zone Box. This will allow you to setup a safe WiFi network in your home.
- This then allows you to filter all devices used by your kids at home.
- Parents can still use existing WiFi or Family Zone’s unfiltered WiFi.
- You can also activate a Guest WiFi network for when your kids have friends come over, so they too are protected. I’d suggest you wait until your house is setup though before moving to these advanced options.
Step 4: Help and the Cyber Safety Teacher Forum
- Click the Help button in the Portal.
- You can search solutions, raise tickets and you can visit the Cyber Safety Teacher Forum in here.
- Please reach out to me or other parents in the forum. This is a place for our entire community to raise questions and work together to solve problems. This is also a great place to let us know how you went setting up Family Zone!
